About the Role
Data center development is one of the most active local news stories in the country, covered inconsistently by outlets that may not reach the residents most affected. Architect Digital needs someone who can tell that story accurately across social platforms as it happens, community by community.
We are hiring a Social Media Manager to build and run Architect Digital's presence on social media. You will translate project research, resident stories and public developments into content that is accurate, timely and grounded in what is actually happening in a community, not speculation or advocacy for either side.
This is a neutral, credibility-first role. Content should read like reporting, not marketing. People should trust what they see from Architect Digital whether they support or oppose a given project.
The ideal candidate has a journalism background: an instinct for what is newsworthy, a habit of verifying before publishing and the ability to write quickly without sacrificing accuracy.
Core Responsibilities
Editorial Judgment
Decide what is worth posting based on verified project developments, not engagement potential alone.
Content Production
Write and produce posts, threads and short-form video scripts covering data center proposals, hearings, resident stories and platform updates.
Platform Management
Run Architect Digital's accounts across the relevant platforms, including posting cadence, community replies and account health.
Source Verification
Confirm facts against the research team's project database and public records before publishing. Correct errors quickly and visibly when they occur.
Voice and Tone
Maintain a consistent, neutral editorial voice across all content. Avoid language that implies Architect Digital supports or opposes any project.
Cross-Team Coordination
Work with the research and community engagement teams to identify stories worth covering and residents willing to be featured, with their consent.
Performance Reporting
Track what content resonates and report findings to inform future coverage decisions.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience
Two or more years in journalism, digital media or social media management, ideally with newsroom or local-news experience.
Editorial Judgment
A trained ability to distinguish a documented fact from a claim, and to source, attribute and correct accordingly.
Writing
Fast, clean writing across formats, from a single post to a longer thread.
Platform Fluency
Experience running accounts on platforms such as X, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn, with an understanding of what performs differently on each.
Judgment Under Pressure
Comfort covering a live local story, such as a contested public hearing, without getting ahead of confirmed facts.
Collaboration
Ability to work closely with a research team and follow verification standards rather than publishing independently.
